‘This batch is my best by far, featuring a stunning aged Sumatran patchouli with 92% patchouliol (the highest grade of patchouli alcohol). It is a tart, rusty, sweet, and refined patchouli. EAST Motif Fleuri is a gleaming shaft of sunlight spearing into the darkness of a jungle floor. A glowing red lantern in an impossibly black night. This golden sepia scent is a growling tiger in a bottle. It celebrates the history of myriad Eastern cultures:- Music, painting, carving, sculpture, ceramics, fashion, poetry, cuisine, architecture, traditional customs, agriculture, invention, ritual, literature, science, philosophy, religious practices and family. This is a fragrant relic; a tiny vessel filled with mysterious secrets, a perfume of invisible dangers and erotic desires. Smouldering, sumptuous and addictive.’ – Teone Reinthal
As is highlighted in the brand’s description, the patchouli plays a huge role here.
Very clean patchouli. Not overly green, more on the earthy side, with the slightest hint of unsweetened chocolate is what I get from it. Slightly nutty as well. Sweet to some extent, but not too much, not gourmand.
It smells very natural, nature-like. Almost syrupy hints of sweetness and lightness come through to balance the earthiness.
This fragrance reminds me most of D:SOL MMXVI Terram in my collection. Green and chocolate-y patchouli. Subtle, mature, aromatic.
