Dry Wood smells a bit different than I’d imagined. In the opening especially, it’s not dry to my nose, because there’s a good blast of citrus. It’s quite acidic, but it does come off soapy and almost ginger-esque on my skin. You do get the woodiness instantly as well, which is mainly cedarwood. Unfortunately, this is one of the lesser releases from Ramon Monegal (I feel like most of their older works aren’t as good as what they released later on).
Where it differs from my expectation is in how traditional it smells; there’s a general spicy masculine leaning tinge and the oakmoss makes this a ‘gentlemanly’ fragrance. It has a distinct green and herbal tinge, in a way that’s still pleasant for me, even though it’s not my favorite style.
As it dries down, Dry Wood indeed becomes very dry. The woods turn into wood shavings and the other notes become background music. The citrus scent does linger on for an impressive amount of time and the overall longevity was solid on my skin.
I enjoy wearing this, but to be totally honest, I feel like there’s something missing considering it’s price. The scent is nice, but smells rather synthetic and it doesn’t break new ground.
