‘Grossmith’s tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a floral tapestry for the twenty-first century. Diamond Jubilee Bouquet opens with lively citrus notes of orange and lemon, highlighted by soft nuances of lily-of-the-valley and narcissus. Its elegant floral heart is comprised of rose, iris, jasmine, violet and heliotrope, balanced by a hint of smoky vetiver, upon a warm, sensual base of vanilla, tonka bean, hawthorn, amber and powdery musks.’ – Grossmith
Diamond Jubilee Bouquet grew on me during my wearing of it. I think Phul-Nana is still my favoriteGrossmith of the 5 that I’ve smelled at the time of writing, but Diamond Jubilee Bouquet is definitely the runner-up.
For me, this is one of the better powdery violets. It has a sweet powdery vibe, but it’s not as singular as in Shem-El-Nessim for example. Mostly, because of the citrus notes adding a sharper, acidic freshness that’s very welcome.
At its core, the powdery notes are very prominent, but they aren’t palpable as much as in the aforementioned Shem-El-Nessim. It’s more like a second skin as it warms up. To me, it feels sophisticated and it’s a great balance between floral, citrus and sweeter powder.
