SERGE LUTENS
DES CLOUS POUR UNE PELURE
2020
Orange
Clove
Nutmeg
This has to be one of the most blue/green juices I’ve seen in a fragrance. Quite unexpectedly from Serge Lutens and it was my first time trying this particular line from the brand.
Des Clous Pour Une Pelure starts off with really big zesty kick. It tickles the nose with acidity and spices. The orange is nice and juicy, but the clove and nutmeg are both very present.
What stands out to me is the quality of the orange. I get a strong zesty, orange rind. Almost as powerful as in something like Bortnikoff Amber Cologne. The spices don’t completely overpower the orange, but they are very strong as well and this isn’t your typical citrus fragrance.
It has a masculine, aftershave vibe and the spices stay rather sharp. At the same time, it becomes quite sweet, yet it remains clean and fresh (think cinnamon flavored mouth wash).
Not the most common scent and a weird color juice for the scent profile. Part of me dislikes the bubblegummy, cleaning spray vibe that I get in Des Clous Pour Une Pelure, but at the same time it has an appeal and it’s invigorating. Not too shabby, although it won’t land on any wishlist of mine.
