‘Delta of Venus is guava-centric floral that reimagines the Garden of Eden’s Forbidden Fruit. It opens with an effervescent burst of juicy bergamot and grapefruit, slinks toward a luscious guava accord created exclusively for Eris by perfumer Antoine Lie, morphing into a kaleidoscope of carnal tropical fruit notes. Delta of Venus’s Garden of Eden is complete with a hissing serpent in the form of a gorgeously bitter green Galbanum note and the fallen, decadent sensuality of the indolic white flower, Jasmine Sambac. Banishment from Paradise has never smelled so good.’ – Eris
‘With Delta of Venus, I tried to capture the natural scent of a ripe, juicy guava with all of its aromatic facets. Combined with a floral woody backbone, the outcome is a very colorful and sparkling yet textured olfactive structure.’ – Antoine Lie
One of my favorite fruity scents is Delta Of Venus. It rounded out the top 3 of my favorite releases of 2023 list (prior to the PR collaboration, which I received later) and here’s why…
This is centered around guava, which I’m not too familiar with (as you can see in the photo below, they didn’t sell guava in my city). To me, Delta Of Venus smells like the most realistic nectarine or peach scent that I’ve come across so far. Very different from most of the releases that came before it in the Eris collection; much more mass-appealing.
It’s very bright and a tad sharp. This is not a full-on fruit juice, but a watery mix of transparent, more subtle fruit juice and the bitterness and green facets of the rind. Under-ripe fruits, with more emphasis on green than sweetness.
As it dries, Delta Of Venus reveals more and more of it’s white floral side. Staying fresh and fruity and placing it it outdoors in a garden.
From my collection it probably resembles Louis Vuitton Pacific Chill the most, but the Eris feels cooler and sharper (and better). It also reminds me a bit of fig fragrances like Essential Parfums Fig Infusion, as I get a slight lactonic texture after the opening.
I can’t get over the beauty of the seemingly simple and mass-appealing fruity scent. Antoine Lie is channeling his inner Jean-Claude Ellena here, with a life-like, minimal representation. This is up there with Mxxx. & Ma Bete as my favorites from this top-notch brand.
