The One Day tea-line is one of my favorite discoveries from 2022, with Oolong Tea being my favorite. Darjeeling Zero is a new limited edition.
It’s a rather daring one to my nose. It has a more bitter and ‘blacker’ tea vibe (I guess closest to Pu’er from the tea line). Slightly smoky, but I mostly get an earthy, forest experience. Like pine-wood, but without the sharper, minty or camphorous aspects. The fragrance this reminds me of the most is DSOL Terram, but whereas that one has a sweet chocolate tone, here it’s less sweetened and more woody.
When I say daring, I’m talking about the opening, which has the bitter, stronger, spicier scent. Compared to the other One Day teas, this might be the most prominent, straight-up dried tea leaves scent. As it dries down, I get way more comfortable with Darjeeling Zero as I get more honey and incense; reminding me a bit of Areej Le Dore’s Mysore Incenza, yet it keeps the greener and earthier tinge.
It won’t dethrone Oolong Tea for me, but definitely another great release from this promising brand.
