PENHALIGON’S

‘For those who favour florals, Penhaligon’s Daphne Bouquet is like a stroll through Highgrove Gardens – created in collaboration with the estate itself. It opens with fresh blackcurrant leaf and daphne accord, capturing the first signs of spring, before settling into a lush base of green moss for a verdant, grounding finish.’ – Harrods
This was quite a nice surprise and different from what I expected based on the notes.
Straight from the opening I found Daphne Bouquet quite fruity and citrussy; I mostly smelled a mandarin-esque bright fruit. It grows more floral after.
I have no idea what daphne smells like, but to my surprise, I got a lot of tomato leaf from this fragrance. Very similar (but more floral) to one of my absolute favorite discoveries in recent years, One Day Jeju. As it dries, I wish that they’d let the composition phase out as more of a citrussy scent. Instead, it’s a neon, sharp, tangy floral that feels more screechy than the opening.
Overall, a strong thumbs up though and one of the nicer Penhaligon’s that I’ve tried so far.
