In this case, the name tells you a lot. It’s a rose forward fragrance, but this is not a light rose. This is a darker, seductive rose and I really like how balanced it is.
Often I find rose to be either stealing the show or just a sidenote, which can both work out great, but here it’s equal parts rose and surrounding notes. And most prominent in those notes are the patchouli, the pepper and the oud. The patchouli adds an earthy, but almost chocolately touch, whereas the spices and musk really energize the rose the scent.
It’s slightly sourish, presumably because of the passionfruit. The cinnamon is quite prominent as well to my nose. It borders on becoming a gourmand-ish rose, but there’s an animalic tinge prohibiting that. In the opening I get a hint of a minty, anise, liquorice vibe, but after a couple of minutes that starts to fade.
As I’ve experienced several times now with Olibere; the quality of materials seems very high and they use quite strong, daring notes. Combine that with an extrait de parfum concentration and you have yourself an excellent performing fragrance. At €100/50ml at the time of review, I feel you’re getting more than your money’s worth with this brand. I ended up buying Chemical Love instead myself.
