Cycle 001 is a limited edition release from Maison Violet (with a 1000 bottles made). I’d tried Cycle 001 in store on paper and it was okay; fresh, clean linen, but I wasn’t sure if there was anything special about it. However, on skin, this is pretty great.
It’s a much more modern styled fragrance than the regular Maison Violet line. This is mostly an iris scent, but it’s world’s apart from their Nuée Bleue for example. I get a more woody iris, slightly sweetened. There’s a greener powdery tinge from angelica and a sweeter one from heliotrope.
Pink pepper adds a kick to the opening, but it creates this almost spicy dry wood workshop vibe. Cycle 001 is more floral and as mentioned, cleaner than most in that style. To my nose this is a mix of a woody tingling and smooth iris and fresh clean linen, especially in the first hour.
It warms up a bit more; sort of like warm skin. The performance is a stand-out feature for an iris of this style. Even though it’s delicate, it lasts.
Sidenote: Cycle 002 is also nice, but I do prefer Cycle 001.
