‘CUIR SADDLE, THE SECOND-SKIN SILHOUETTE. Imagined by Francis Kurkdjian as a soft and sensual leather, Cuir Saddle disrupts the codes of the leather accord in perfumery, echoing the Dior It bag that reinterpreted leather in the 2000s. This fragrance for women and men reveals luminous facets of white flowers, elevated by light woods. Soft and sensual, it melts into the skin in an organic and intimate embrace. Like the Saddle bag, the fragrance becomes an extension of the body—a trompe-l’œil leather, worn like a second skin (…) Far from the raw, smoky nuances of the traditional leather accord, Cuir Saddle evokes an organic leather that becomes one with your skin (…) Cuir Saddle unfurls a woody floral trail beautifully inflected with a leather accord. Luminous white flowers brighten airy woody notes, creating the sensation of sensual, supple leather caressing the skin.’ – Dior
‘The Saddle bag is an extension of the body. You slip it under your arm and it becomes one with your body. I took my inspiration from the feeling of leather on skin, fused with the skin, caressing the skin.’ – Francis Kurkdjian
‘The It bag created by John Galliano at the dawn of the 2000s guided me towards an olfactory creation that challenges conventions. Just as this bag did by appropriating the classic lines of a riding saddle, transforming it into a Dior fashion icon… I therefore wanted to create a leathery fragrance conceived as an optical illusion, one that begins “classically” with a smoky, woody, pyrogenic accord, but ultimately surprises and delights the senses with a completely unexpected lightness… Cuir Saddle offers a unique sensuality… A look that responds to the new Dior codes in a full-grain leather accord that melts into the skin in a sensual embrace… With Cuir Saddle, I wanted to soften the leather, relax it, transform it into a supple and velvety suede. Cuir Saddle thus reinvents the genre by blending traditional leather notes with a floral, musky, and creamy cloud and modern ambery woody notes.” The result is both tenacious and lighter, sensual yet softer.’ – Francis Kurkdjian (via Soon Magazine)
