Cristalle is a Chanel DNA that I first started liking during a store visit in 2022; presumably from an older bottle. I sought out a vintage EDT and it’s every bit as good as I remember.
Cristalle is often described as very green, which is something that I usually don’t get along with well. To my surprise, I much prefer the style of green in Cristalle, over the aldehydic No. 5 however, while giving me a similar overall feeling.
That feeling mostly comes down to being crisp and elegant, with Cristalle being an easier, less demanding wear. I get even more of a cinnamon-ish spiciness in this than in No. 5, although I don’t think many others have remarked on this, so I’m not sure what I’m smelling.
It also wears very powdery on my skin, but not necessarily in the same way that a lot of the other Chanels do, perhaps more resinous like for example opoponax than the usual iris.
Describing Cristalle isn’t easy for me and I’ll need more time with it, but either way, I do enjoy it quite a bit.
