‘Costa Azzurra Parfum is a deeper expression of the original scent, capturing the feel of a hedonistic Mediterranean escape. I think we all need an escape right now.’ – Tom Ford
To be fair, I don’t really recall the scent of the original Costa Azzurra that well. In my head, this was much more of a citrus fragrance than it turns out to be. At least, for this Parfum concentration.
This leans very aromatic straight away. Sharp, green with an overall masculine leaning vibe. More precisely, this has that masculine ‘shower gel’ vibe that takes me back to my earlier Acqua di Gio wearing days.
The saltiness is understated and I do miss the acidity from citrus in the opening here. It wears nicely, but very linear and pretty generic. On the other hand, I like that it’s not too sweet or youthful, but rather classy. I feel this version is a lot spicier woody and less citrussy.
Quite nice, but not enough to make a lasting impression on me. For the money, I’d definitely prefer the 2023 Acqua di Gio Parfum for example.
