Coffee Bomb was my favorite from Maison Tahite’s coffee collection (followed by I-Ristretto). This one is in the general direction of the ever-popular Montale Intense Café DNA, but read on to find out why I think it’s better in all aspects.
From all the coffees from Maison Tahite, Coffee Bomb has the strongest, darkest and most ‘roasted’ coffee vibe. It has that slightly bitter or even burnt coffee essence that you won’t get in Intense Cafe.
It does have a similar style rose, but here it feels higher quality and less metallic than in the Montale. It’s a combination that works really well; perhaps a tad traditionally feminine leaning, but it blooms in an opulent, intoxicating and mature way.
Texture-wise Coffee Bomb does its own thing; not following the lactonic, creamy way, but instead this has a somewhat ozonic, smoky texture (like the steam coming off a hot cup of coffee).
Coffee Bomb gets sweet, but not overly so and sticks to the coffee theme quite well to me. The sweetness feels like it belongs to the coffee and not as a separate vanilla or caramel. It dries down a tiny bit more earthy.
I’d personally really want the florals to last longer, as they take the backseat after a good hour on my skin. I might try layering this with a simple rose fragrance in the future. That being said, the opening of Coffee Bomb is up there with my favorites. I love rose and it’s probably my favorite experience with a coffee combination thus far, which is why this was an instant-purchase for me.
A big plus? This retailed for just under €100/100ml at the time I reviewed it, which is a true rarity nowadays.
