‘Coeur, a spicy floral amber fragrance, pays homage to Yves Saint Laurent’s lucky talisman. It is inspired by the famous Cœur Fétiche, an iconic piece of jewelry worn by the couturier’s muses from 1962 to 2002. This unisex fragrance captures the essence of passion and absolute elegance. A striking olfactory duality: The fragrance plays on a bold contrast between the warmth of a sensual amber accord and the sharp, metallic freshness of aldehydes. Luminous like a cut stone and deep like a magnetic ruby, this fragrance embodies the beating heart of haute parfumerie. For this burning heart, precious iris butter offers violets. A sharp, genderless signature that breaks with conventions—intense, subversive, and quintessentially Saint Laurent. The inspiration: A jewel made of “real diamonds and fake rubies” created by a French jeweler for Mr. Saint Laurent, the iconic lucky HEART was present from the very beginning, when the fashion house officially opened at 30 bis rue Spontini on December 4, 1961. Each season, the heart was delivered the day before the show, to be worn by the couturier’s favorite model. An asymmetrical heart encrusted with smoky gray diamonds, red crystals, and teardrop-shaped cabochons of pearls, the spectacular piece—12 centimeters high and 8 centimeters wide—was much more than a simple lucky charm. It became a talisman, so dear to Mr. Saint Laurent that, unlike other jewels designed for his collections, he kept the lucky heart in his own apartment on the rue de Babylone.’ – YSL (translated)
