Humiecki & Graef is a brand that is rarely covered in the fragrance community. It has landed on my radar via one of its perfumers; Christophe Laudamiel, so I was happy to check them out. Starting with Clemency.
Clemency is very interesting. It’s a great and accurate representation of the listed notes in my opinion; green floral, smooth leather, milky sandalwood and rose is exactly how I perceive it.
It starts rather fresh with the florals and it has a calming, dewy green quality. As it dries it mixes in with the lactonic qualities and the woods; becoming almost like a sun-tan lotion. I imagine washing hands that have been through grass and flowers and perhaps a tiny bit of earth in a milky and sweetened. but cool handsoap (like an almond-milk and honey one).
I am notoriously bad with green fragrances, but Clemency is one that I would absolutely like to wear. The subtle hint of bright rose, the slightest hint of suede-like leather and the overall excellent texture makes this feel somewhat understated, very versatile, yet never too simplistic or familiar. Stellar release.
