Champa was described by several people I’ve spoken to as the ‘darkest’ one of the Indian Attars collection. I agree on it being the darkest, most gothic and perhaps melancholic scent in the line. I don’t think it translates into a hard to pull off scent; I’d say Champa is more accessible of a scent profile than Tuba was for me.

Champa sets out as a woody and indolic scent, but it’s somewhat neutral. The indols are dosed and don’t have any excrement connection in my mind. The sweetness does a lot here and I really enjoy it.

I get a similar chocolate-y woody sweetness here that I get in Genda (Marigold). I love Adam’s description here of creamy woods and red falling leaves; that’s the vibe I can picture with this one. It’s the most ‘autumn’ scent of the line for me; a bit dark, a bit earthy and the tones are brown and red, but it’s also cozy.

I’d have to try this side by side with Genda to see which I like most between those two and they will follow Gulab, which is my favorite of the five releases in this collection.
