‘Created for my wife for her love of gourmand perfumes, Celeste Coffee is a gourmand lovers dream. Celeste Coffee opens up with refreshing and invigorating Apple and Apricot, with Peach adding a soft citrus touch. Juicy Plum, jammy Rose and airy Violet add layers of fruits and florals. From here you are drawn into the heart with a creamy Butter and Hazelnut duo that are reminiscent of walking into a patisserie, a patisserie that serves gorgeous nutty treats. Vanilla is in the air, along with Cacao and Toffee, and a hint of Coffee to get your senses going. Java Vetiver reinforces the chocolatey goodness of Italian Cacao but also adds a tone of green earthiness, whilst our 10+ year aged Arabica Coffee takes you into the Middle East souks! Labdanum and Orris absolute create a solid ambery and floral foundation for the naturally sweet and woody Laos Oud.’ – LHParfums

I’d tried some Lana & Hadi fragrances via a friend before the brand kindly sent over the collection to try. Celeste Coffee was the reason I got into the brand in the first place and upon spraying everything on paper, Celeste Coffee was still a stand out.

Probably the fragrance that feels most like an outlier in the Lana & Hadi collection though. It’s more in line with current trends and less artisinal perfumery; yet with seemingly high quality. If you’re not into the style of the other perfumes from the brand, you may very well still love this one. Arguably up there with my absolute favorite coffees of all time and the easiest to instantly like from the brand (although I do feel that some of the others earn their premium price tags more).

Much sweeter than Cafe Alpha. Darker, heavier. Almost syrupy, fatty with a lot of nutty facets from the start. I get a lot of hazelnut, some cardamom maybe; it reminds of that style of more Middle Eastern flavored coffee. Surprisingly, I barely get any of the fruity top notes; there’s a faint hint of fruitiness, but more in the dried berries direction that comes with serious coffees or chocolate.

This one gets very gourmand up close; hazelnut, nutella vibes with a smoky, roasted, thick coffee in the back. At times I can sense the tobacco smokiness coming through, which makes it a tad more mature than your average full-on gourmand. The scent feels a lot more contemporary than what I get from the rest of the Lana & Hadi, but it has a richness to it that you’ll be hard-pressed to find in most mass marketed perfumery. It’s one of the best takes on ‘roasted’ gourmand that I’ve smelled. While sweet, it doesn’t have the typical sugary, cheaper smelling base. It’s a better representation of sweet coffee than Akro Awake (although I’m not sure which I would like to wear more often), Kerosene Follow and more focused on the gourmand-coffee than the excellent Strangers SM Cafe.
