Cedrat Boise is at the same time hugely popular, but arguably still underrated in my book. It’s too often viewed as a mere Aventus clone, but it’s not as similar to me as many many other fragrances in my opinion. It stands on it’s own and I personally prefer it over Aventus. Considering the price point you can find Cedrat Boise at now, it’s a no-brainer, especially given how versatile it is. It’s one of the only fragrances that I own multiple bottles of and it would be among the first 5 I would suggest to people (men) who are looking to start their collection.
It’s an ‘orange’ scent to me, not just the fruit, but in colour, whereas the Aventus DNA is a lot more green. Nor does it smell like pineapple, but there is an overall, non-distinct orange fruitiness. The opening can be a bit simplistic, with a lot of sugary sweet, lemonade like fruits. It does have a bit more depth than for example Montblanc Explorer, but it’s not complex.
Where Cedrat Boise turns into one of my favorites is the drydown. The smokiness takes over and it leaves a smoky fruity citrus sillage that lasts really well. On clothes, this sticks for days and its the best part of the scent.
Sidenote: I have two ‘older’ bottles with the screw caps instead of the magnetic ones. Both perform really well, definitely above average. On first impression the 2022 release Cedrat Boise Intense smelled nearly identical and didn’t add any significant benefits to my experience.
