‘Plush, extravagant, indulgent. Caspian Cherry is an epicurean delight, an extravagant and tantalising fragrance that perfectly captures the lavish scent of cherries, set against an elegant gourmand backdrop. Opening with the tempting and playful sweetness of velvety almond liqueur and juicy black cherries, tempered with bittersweet dark chocolate. As the fragrance develops, the indulgence continues through a delicately spiced honey note, sprinkled with plush coconut. This gourmand richness is amplified and contrasted by a shot of coffee and the gentle warmth of vetiver. Powdery tonka extends the cherry impression throughout the scent. Creamy sandalwood and silky-smooth white chocolate create a sumptuously decadent drydown.’ – Electimuss

Caspian Cherry is a bit of an odd one. One one hand, I quite like the scent. On the other, it’s an airy, hairspray-like consistency that I found hard to truly appreciate.

It opens with a good dose of cherry, but that slowly starts to fade straight away. Not only is this a far cry from most of the heavier, denser, opulent Electimuss fragrances, it’s also not your average cherry scent. I would say this leans more into the sun tan lotion territory than I expected.

Sun tan lotion, with a cherry opening. The coconut and honey provide the sweet sun tan vibe, more than a true gourmand. Darker hits of chocolate and coffee are not really the direction that I get from Caspian Cherry at all. Honey feels like the main player on my skin. And I like honey. Honeyed scents can be a bit demanding to wear, here the consistency helps making it light enough. As it dries the honey makes way for a generic, but pleasant vanilla.

It does wear smoothly and I think calling it a hairspray like quality as I did earlier may be a bit dismissive. It has the smoothness, yet transparency of a boozy scent. As is often the case with that style, it feels light and hard to grasp however. I got hints of the scents throughout a night that I wore it, but performance overall felt timid. The hairspray vibe comes from the fruity hints you get throughout the opening.

It’s a nice scent profile for me, but not nearly as exciting as the note breakdown had me believe. It’s not as gourmand, not as dark and more generic than I was hoping for. I’m mostly missing coffee or chocolate. The texture is not what I was hoping for either and if you’re looking for a great cherry fragrance, this wouldn’t come to mind as a recommendation for me. Still, despite all those ‘negatives’, Caspian Cherry is a more than decent release; one to try before you buy, as my experience, but also the ones I read from others, indicate that Caspian Cherry often doesn’t align with people’s expectations. I view this as a honey-vanilla sun tan lotion scent and it’s okay to above average for that style for me.
