Very interesting notes for Carduus and an interesting scent it is.
First of all, Carduus strongly reminds me of my late grandfather’s house somehow. It has a very typical old wooden (library) scent, reminding me of heavy pre-IKEA furniture. It’s a bit herbal, but at the same time Carduus is rather sweet and spicy.
The sweet spiciness is surrounding the woodiness like a smoky cloud. I think another reason why it reminds me off that grandfather, is he would always have these liquorice-esque lozenges in a tin can; Carduus has that vibe as well.
I can not go by the notes with this one; to me there’s a booziness, a cough syrup, a heavy woodiness. I get the connectioned to a honeyed chamomile tea as well, but it’s even more herbal and stronger (boozy) than I would imagine that to be. Clove are prominent throughout.
It’s slightly out of my comfort zone, although not as green or unsweetened to the point where I would not enjoy it. To my own surprise I liked this one a lot, albeit a bit too dark and gothic as it dries. Absolutely a unique and interesting release by Jorum and I think this would be awesome on a cold Winter’s night.
