Cafe Gourmand is a very dry, nutty take on coffee in the opening.

Straight away you get the spicy tinge from saffron and the earthy patchouli, but the standout feature here is the hazelnut. The scent reminds me of those bags of powdered instant coffee with hazelnut flavor.

That being said, despite its name I wouldn’t describe this as overly gourmand. The gourmand nutty touches fade a bit too quickly for my liking and a more sweet, sugary, grating saffron takes its place alongside a sweet vetiver. I must be imagining some rose in here as well. Cafe Gourmand has kind of a middle eastern vibe in the drydown to me.

Probably my least favorite from this coffee line from Maison Tahite (with Coffee Bomb being my favorite).
