‘Caden is a bold and addictive fragrance that redefines luxury with a playful twist. The scent opens with rich, boozy, and smoky top notes that seamlessly blend into a gourmand heart of a luscious, candy-like sweetness of vanilla. To enhance its depth, a combination of suede, cade and tonka takes center stage. This dynamic pairing perfectly complements the fragrance’s dark and sensual character. Sophisticated yet irresistibly fun, Caden is a scent to be savored.’ – OmanLuxury
When I first smelled Caden on paper, I knew instantly that it wasn’t going to be for me. I decided to give it a full wearing either way and it does reveal more facets than the initial saffron leather; however, not enough to sway me into liking it.
Don’t get me wrong; Caden seems to be an excellently crafted product and that has been the case for many of the OmanLuxury fragrances. However, the saffron is very dominant and I get this shoe-polish, gasoline-tinged, rubbery leather from start to finish and it’s a style of leather that I don’t enjoy wearing. It reminds me of those cheap/kids shoe stores of which you can smell the rubbery scent just by walking by them.
The other half of the fragrance, which only revealed itself on skin for me, is a nutty sweetness, bordering on gourmand. Tonka, almond, woody. It has a hint of fragrances such as Van Cleef & Arpels Bois Dore or Memoirs Of A Perfume Collector Lost In The Desert, but it stays way more on the saffron side.
Overall, this is a rather dark and in-your-face saffron-suede-sweet scent; it smells familiar and I would consider it an acquired taste (that I haven’t acquired).
