Brooklyn is citrus based fragrance, so it’s perfect for the warmer weather. The opening is heavy on the lemon, but not a lifelike lemon, rather a hard candy lemon (there’s a sugary sweetness to it).
There’s tartness, which I believe can also come from the magnolia flower. During the wear it goes from a tart lemon to more of a warmer orange, while remaining fresh enough to be a Summer fragrance and luckily it doesn’t become overly sweet. After a while the musk becomes a huge player in the composition. The musk here adds a bit of depth to the fruitiness and the texture becomes powdery. Aside from that, the warmth from the amber and benzoin comes through and it creates a base that carries the orange scent for a reasonable amount of time. It’s not the best performer, but it gets the job done fine for a fresher scent. In the late drydown it turns into more of a powdery light woody fragrance, that’s pleasant as more of a skin scent.
Overall, I’m very impressed by Brooklyn. It’s a citrus that’s fresh enough for warm weather, but it has more character than most of its ‘competitors’. Not my favorite fresh Gallivant however, that honor goes to Bukhara.
