Broceliande instantly grabbed me as one of the most accessible and uplifting fragrances from Sora Dora’s 2021 starting line-up (the other one that I liked a lot was Mandorle).
On paper, I thought it would be a Summer citrus, but after some wearing on skin, it’s definitely also a strong vanilla scent. Mostly reminiscent of a middle ground between Casamorati’s Lira and Dama Bianca in the drydown. You get the sweet vanilla cake after a while, but the citrus is brighter and lasts longer than in Lira.
In the opening I get a slightly zesty citrus; a fresh, bitter orange, but mostly lime. It’s instantly sweet, but it takes about an hour for the vanilla to really take the main stage. The citrus, as mentioned, does last quite well; growing every so slightly herbal on my skin. The vanilla has a hint of spices and a hint of booze (rum as in Guerlain Homme EDP‘s rum and lime combination).
Civet is listed as the main base note, but I don’t get any animalic elements in this at all. It’s an easy to wear citrus – vanilla, that’s not overly complex, but it’s all I need it to be.
