Brivido Della Caccia caught me by surprise from the first moment. I honestly didn’t really know what to expect going in, but this wasn’t it. It’s a fresh, aromatic leather with a hint of sweetness underneath.
The fragrances that I’ve tried that resembles this somewhat is Floraiku’s Between Two Trees and Memo Irish Leather. The leather accord is interesting; it’s fresh, sharp, almost like a new car smell, but some wafts you get a more animalic undertone. I feel like there’s a good amount of birch in this. It’s made extra bright and fresh in the opening with juniper. The thing that really ties it to the aforementioned Floraiku is the mate note, giving it a bit of a eucalyptus tinge.
At some points during the wear, I get sweeter wafts with the tonka that’s used, which makes for an interesting juxtaposition with the freshness. Texture wise this feels very dry; the iris is probably the cause of this, but you don’t get the sweetness that you get from some iris notes.
Performance-wise this holds up; it’s not massive, but it’s good. Brivido Della Caccia is my second favorite from the line after Triumph Of Bacchus and now that I’ve tried it, I’m surprised it isn’t talked about more.
