I’d smelled a part of the Rebatchi collection briefly; most of them being pleasant, albeit few jumped out at me on a very first impression. One that always seemed interesting was Bois D’Enfants, so it was time for a proper wearing.
To me, this is such an interesting mix of scents, that works surprisingly well.
You get a clear ‘winter’ woods vibe with pine here and it’s sharper facets highlighted with pink pepper. In general, this wore more spicy on my skin than I expected or remembered from trying it before.
Perhaps it’s the raspberry note working it’s magic, but something makes Bois D’Enfant soothing and comforting. The brand’s description speaks of ‘salty freshness’ and ‘maritime pines’, but on my skin, I don’t necessarily get the seaside or briny qualities.
I do get pine, tree sap, but I get more of a fruity air than anything salty. If it’s mineralic, it’s more like a semi-sparkling champagne or raspberry and rose lemonade.
Definitely an unexpected mix of aromatic woods and sweet fruits that slowly become more vanillic. Two seemingly colliding worlds that work together in Bois D’Enfant. A thumbs up for me.
