Unique’e Luxury is a promising Turkish niche house and they teamed up with Alan, the owner from Beverly Hills Perfumery to create this store-exclusive. It’s definitely one of the most unique scents I’ve tried and arguably my favorite from the brand so far.
Essentially this is a sweet tobacco scent, yet it won’t smell like most sweet tobacco scents you’ve tried. Particularly, this is mainly tobacco and honey, but if you expect a Xerjoff Naxos or Mugler Pure Havane, you might be in for a surprise.
The opening especially is a bit weird. There’s a lot of cardamom and there’s an overall green tinge. To my nose, it has a slight forest-scent, though not a natural one. More like a forest shampoo, almost mentholated, before the sweetness kicks in.
The tobacco starts taking over and it’s really dry. It’s one of the more dry tobacco notes I’ve tried and it’s off-set by a syrupy honeyed sweetness. However, this is semi-sweet; it’s not a full-blown edible sweet honey, but more so a floral, botanical style honey accord. Closer to Zoologist Bee than the aforementioned Naxos. I still get a hint of menthol, maybe like a cough syrup? It’s melancholic in the way Meo Fusciuni Little Song. What it perhaps reminds me of most is the original, limited edition version of Thomas de Monaco Raw Gold, but I find the Unique’e more medicinal.
Eventually it does become even sweeter and a bit more conventional and easier to wear, but it never becomes generic. The ambergris comes through giving the tobacco a sort of briny quality. Overall it’s very mature and classy. This might be a good sweet choice, for people who think the usual gourmands are too sweet. It’s definitely worth getting your nose on.
