My favorite from the first Pekji line-up; Battaniye.
To my own surprise this was my favorite, as it’s all about patchouli and earthiness, and that’s not something that I can handle well often. This fragrance is much sweeter than I’d expected given it lists soil tincture and ash. It’s very wearable, rich and heavy at the same time.
It has a sparkling, tingling spiciness, similar in a way to Odoon from the brand. Both are bit smoky as well; like spices burning in a pan and the smokiness has hints of sweetness like cinnamon. The amber accord takes the patchouli to the next level with a comforting warmth.
I feels like a fireplace, but in the distance. It doesn’t have the pungent smokiness or burnt aspect as much as the warmth and comfort. A beautiful beast. The sweetness is reminiscent of the honey-amber hearts of some Hiram Green works (especially Voyage 2019). I could see myself adding Battaniye to my collection one day.
