Basilica opens like a herbal version of Masque Milano’s Lost Alice to my nose. Pepper isn’t listed as a note, but something in this (perhaps the cedar and aromatics combined) give me a spicy opening. Most notably, Basilica shares a (warm) milk accord that’s very reminiscent to me of the mid of Lost Alice.
Overall, Basilica isn’t nearly as sweet however and the incense starts to take over.I think it does an excellent job at combining warmer and colder notes. It is definitely putting images of lighting incense in a big cold space with thick stone walls. Good performance as well. If you like lactonic scents, this is up there with the best that Milano Fragranze has to offer.
