‘NAME
Balade Sauvage is the fragrance that immediately calls to mind an escape to a cliff top lined with fig trees. The discovery of a pristine nature.
CHARACTER
The trail of the Balade Sauvage fragrance is a mix of raw and natural emotions. A creation with a strong Mediterranean character.
DISTINCTIVE FEATURE
Citrus and woody notes resonate with the tangy vivacity of citrus fruit.
COLOUR
The polychrome palette of a wild landscape, whereby the white rock is illuminated by the golden rays of the sun.
FAMILY
Sensual. As fresh as the branches of a fig tree swaying in the breeze, Balade Sauvage is a generous fragrance with olfactory notes of fresh bergamot and mineral volcanic rock.
INTENSITY
Like the heady odors of plants and minerals that punctuate a hike in the great outdoors, the odors of the Balade Sauvage fragrance unveil an invigorating intensity.
If you are lucky enough to wander the island of Panarea, you can feel all at once the sea breeze, the mineral aspect of the volcanic stone warmed by the sun, and the scent of flowers and fruit. This fragrance draws inspiration from these strong sensations: it represents a moment spent in the shade of a fig tree, whereby the scent of sparkling citrus fruit and a fresh breeze recalling the Mediterranean sun unfurl. If you are lucky enough to wander the island of Panarea, you can feel all at once the sea breeze, the mineral aspect of the volcanic stone warmed by the sun, and the scent of flowers and fruit. Balade Sauvage was on of the first fig fragrances that I’ve ever tried and I still think it’s a fragrance that’s deserving of more attention.
This is a fig fragrance first, but it also contains peach, and that’s something that I can definitely pick up more. I absolutely love the opening minutes, when you have an added citrus brightness, but unfortunately that citrus fades away really quickly. This is a scent that’s divided into three parts for me. There’s the woody and fruity aspect, which is really well done and natural. The woods are soft and the fruits are prominent.
Then there’s a sea breeze, ozonic, slightly aquatic accord, that’s a nice touch and not overpowering at all. And last, but not least, there’s an almost creamy texture underneath that ozonic quality. It reminds me of almond milk and in combination with the fruits and the beach vibes, it turn into one of the more pleasant sun tan lotion/hand cream type of fragrance that I’ve come across.
The longevity seemed to be on the moderate side (although with a dabber bottle, I sort of reserve judgement). Performance isn’t bad, but the brighter notes are airy and fleeting. Overall, I was very happy with this and I think it’s an underrated release from the Maison Christian Dior line, that’s overshadowed by the likes of Bois D’Argent, Oud Ispahan, Gris Dior, Ambre Nuit & several others.
