I was very exciting to finally get my nose on Aura Sublime. It’s kind of a cult classic, given that it’s sort of a predecessor to Cecile Zarokians more famous perfumes. It also used to be an amazing deal, but I think prices have gone up significantly by now.
Unfortunately, I did not like Aura Sublime as much as I thought I would. It’s a really good complex vanilla scent. It’s often compared to Casamorati Lira, but it has a lot more going on and frankly, I disagree that they’re comparable. It has a similar vanilla, somewhat, but a much more logical lineage would be from Cecile’s own Nishane Ani. With Aura Sublime also having an aromatic edge and the citrus is sharper. It’s powdery and I get a distinct old-school, retro vibe. Like a barbershop cologne DNA hidden beneath all that citrussy vanilla. It takes away from it having a gourmand vibe.
