ASHEN ORRIS (2020) • THE SOCIETY OF SCENT🔺, ScentAdvice

Ashen Orris is ‘a floral gem in the mineral dust’. I’ve been enjoying this house overall and Ashen Orris is no exception.

The initial spray instantly reminds me of cucumber. Fresh cucumber, with a hint of sour vinegar, though not fully pickled, maybe with a sprinkle of pepper. I assume it’s mostly the coriander that’s responsible and it’s really prominent to my nose. It contains iris, sage and galbanum, so it goes into a greenish floral direction, but in an almost icey fresh way. I’m not sure if it’s icey or metallic.

Sage can come off as cooling, so that might be what I’m smelling. At least for the opening, because after a while it becomes more creamy and woody. There’s sandalwood in the base and it becomes a richer overall experience. It warms up a little bit and texture-wise it’s a nice balance of smooth and powdery.

Ashen Orris is a nice, versatile fragrance, mostly leaning towards a fresher scent. The cucumber vibe won’t be for everyone, but I enjoyed it’s uplifting effect. As with everything from the house so far, the quality reflects the more expensive price tag.
