I’ve tried Art Nouveau a few times now and every time, I’ve had (the same) mixed feelings.
Part of me wants to love this fragrance and I really appreciate it’s lush, opulent bouquet of flowers and fruits. It’s impressively vibrant in a way that I’d wish more floral and fruity fragrances would be. Straight from the first spray, I think this is the type of scent that puts a smile on someone, especially in slightly warmer weather; it just feels like a refreshing and uplifting blast of scent hitting you; rather loud, but not to the point where it gets annoying.
The scent itself is hard to describe as you’re hit with many of the listed notes; I mostly get a non-indolic white floral with the acidity of blackcurrant and peach. However, there’s a ton of white musk and this is where my mixed feelings originate.
Art Nouveau reminds me a little too much of my laundry detergent and in particular of Robijn Morgenfris or dryer sheets (for the Dutch people reading this). I can’t shake the connection and while the scent is very pleasant and fresh; perfect for clothes; it feels a bit unnatural to wear as a fragrance. I honestly, don’t know why and maybe it’s just me.
