Arome 3 was released in 1943 Arome 3 (1943) • D’ORSAY. It was reformulated in 1995 Arome 3 (1995) • D’ORSAY.
Arome 3 is a different scent profile from the newer Arome 3 Tradition (1998) • D’ORSAY.
‘A woody floral fragrance that provides you with the feeling of being in a wide garden full of amazing flowers. The composition features upper notes of neroli, followed by jasmine in the heart and cedar in the base, leaving you an irresistable scent with a soft touch that fascinates everyone you meet.’ – Goldenscents
‘Arôme 3, a fragrance for men who embody natural seduction, delicacy and a love of simple, high-quality raw materials. A truly aromatic opening swirl that enfolds you in a third skin… Lavender-scented water adorned with spicy white flowers, giving way to leather and vanilla base notes.’ – Fragrantica
Some concise notes from my testing of Arome 3 (I wore it alongside a older vintage of Arome 3).
To me, this is way better than the older vintage that I tried, which may have gone off due to bad aging. Here, the sparkling, sharpness is retained more, although the lemon is still not overly fresh, more bitter.
It reminds me a lot of some Acqua di Parma, like a less acidic Colonia Essenza that sweetens up a lot more (Im sure ADP has something like that in their own line). Here mostly get a cinnamon-esque spicy sweetness throughout. Very pleasant, even though it’s not my usual style. Very traditional, masculine cologne vibes.
The later drydown is not what I expected. Up close it smells similar the older Arome 3, but in the air it’s much sweeter with a strong vanilla in the base.
