‘Archives 69 is the essence of Etat Libre d’Orange. This is a perfume designed to free the senses, to open the heart to all the possibilities. It is an invitation to pleasure, an ode to seduction. It comes without restrictions, rules or regulations. It is yours to do with as you wish. This is the scent of sensual liberation. ‘ – Etat Libre D’Orange
Archives 69 is quite a beast of an incense fragrance. I think I’d like this one a lot more if it was toned down a bit as far as how loud it is.
The scent is really nice. I mostly get a sweet pepper and incense, at times reminiscent of cinnamon. It’s all rather sharp and heavy.
The mandarin adds some brightness and for a spicy scent it’s not overly dry. The incense really helps in adding some balsamic touches and a honeyed sweetness, but the overall spiciness cuts through it.
Rather unique and abstract. I even get hints of a shaving foam in this after a while (others have called it soapy). But ultimately definitely an incense with an edge. I enjoyed it, but would probably not ever reach for it if I had a bottle on my shelves.
