Arabesque is really light, bright and floral, in my experience. I don’t think it leans very feminine, but it’s a style you have to be open to as a man and it’s lighter than the note breakdown might have you think.
The opening is a superbright, powdery rose; it feels like a white or light pink rose for me. The citrus adds to the freshness. The saffron is upfront next to the rose and it takes a while for the scent to transition. In the opening it’s pleasant, but it comes off like a clean, smoother room spray type scent to me. It’s almost a nod to a fresh linen scent. However, an hour into the wear, it’s a little less powdery and it sweetens up. It’s still essentially a semi-dry, musky saffron and rose fragrance, but the woods comes through a bit more and vanilla plus an amber accord add some welcome warmth and sweetness. The texture is very smooth at this stage and it’s easy to wear.
I think if you’re looking for this really bright rose scent or even something like a clean lily-of-the-valley style scent, with Arabesque you get a solid performing, well-balanced and rounded offering that will be worth it for you.
