Applejuice was a wild card when I ordered it; I was kind of hoping for a similar fruity vibe to the excellent Candy Festival, but that’s not what Applejuice is. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Zara is that names don’t have a very close relation to the scent. In this case, I barely get apple, but mostly florals.

If anything I get the tartness from apples or citrus, but it’s very floral. Initially I barely smelled anything other than alcohol, but on second wearing I picked up a lot more of the actual scent. It’s not bad, but faint and watery. Imagine spilling a few drops of applejuice and hand full of flower petals into oily water. There’s little depth to the fragrance, which can be forgiven at it’s price point.

Performance wise this is the weakest of the Zara’s that I’ve tried so far; it’s very subtle from the first moment. I’m not up on my designers enough to verify any comparisons, but apparently Applejuice smells like Chanel Chance Eau Tendre.

Call me a snob, but almost all my experiences with Zara come down to: ‘It is, what it is… a 10€ perfume, that works really well for the price’. So if you don’t have a fragrance collection already or when you’re a teenager starting out, nice… But for (niche) fragrance lovers, I don’t see a reason to get excited for Zara and Applejuice might embody that statement the most out of my experiences with the brand thus far.
