Anubis didn’t work for me at all, but it’s an interesting and unique creation. I expected a richer, sweeter amber, but Anubis is a highly artistic ‘niche’ scent profile instead. Commendable for sure, but hard to pull off for me, even if it’s not traditionally daring.
It has a dry smokiness and a ‘library that hasn’t been exposed to sunlight for decades’ old-world type of quality. Maybe the name puts the ‘old’ in my head, but it feels dry and dusty.
Now, what really triggered me to not like Anubis, is a latex-y scent. Suede and saffron are listed, but what I get here is almost like laminated paper and not so much leather. It’s an interesting thing to smell, but I tried it twice and didn’t grow an affection for it.
