Acqua di Sale is a fragrance released way back in 1996, when Profumum Roma was first launched. It’s a fragrance that’s still relevant and it’s a good one, although I’ve had some issues with mine.
It lists salt and I get that, but I definitely also get a sweeter peppery vibe, almost like cinnamon. To my nose this isn’t all that far off from Zoologist Squid initially, in which I also got this almost spiced bread like quality with spices.
Now for the most part; it’s beachy. More so the saltiness on skin, slightly mineralic, slightly seaweedy. It’s metallic in the way Amouage Reflection Man is on my skin. It also has that almost chlorine-like masculine cologne coming through, which I also get in Reflection Man.
It’s not a light scent or even all that bright; it’s beachy, but it’s heavy and thick. The brand is known for good performing freshies (40% concentration) and that’s definitely true here. I do think Acqua di Sale comes across a bit dated. The cologne vibe with the spicy sweetness (maybe getting some minty clove as it dries, in a very fougere sweet way). I like it a lot, but I’m not sure if it would have a place in my collection.
