I was saying that Acqua Di Gio seemed to be a weird fit for a ‘parfum flanker’, given it’s fresh, sparkling qualities. I was afraid that a higher concentration would take away from the refreshing qualities, but I must say, I’m somewhat impressed by this version.
The original Acqua Di Gio was one of my signature scents for years, so I know it well, but I haven’t worn it in years. I later wore Profumo a while, but that one has a weird ‘aftertaste’ that reminded me of wet dog hairs, so I fell out of love with it quickly.
This Parfum feels like it’s in the middle of the slightly darker Profumo and the original EDT, but feels more barbershop-esque; still sparkling, but more green and aromatic, less citrussy.
In style, I agree with people saying this is very similar to Profumo, but I think it’s done much better. It feels more mature, more refreshing still in a sense. Teenagers or those looking for more youthful fragrance are better off with other versions perhaps, but this is a solid, classy take on Acqua Di Gio.
