Headspace has been one of my favorite emerging brands, with Santal as a stand-out from the ones that I’d reviewed prior to this. The brand sent over a discovery set of the Extraits & samples of later additions Cedre & Rose to try as well.

Acacia went in a completely different direction from what I was expecting. But it is quite nice. I would argue this is a full-on gourmand though, and that’s not what I was anticipating.

In particular, this ends up smelling familiar, with a strong coumarin/tonka/almond scent that’s been trending in recent years (think D’orsay Tonka Hysteria, Une Nuit Nomade Chemin D’Amande & Guerlain Tonka Sarrapia 75).

Perhaps there’s a little more of a powdery floral touch here; mimosa, almost heliotrope-esque, but definitely more gourmand than most of those types of fragrances. In the opening I even get a more roasted, pyrazine-biscuit quality, but I like how it retains that semi-sweet tonka more for the entire wear. It’s more marzipan than vanilla to my nose.

Overall, unexpectedly gourmand leaning, but good. I don’t know if I would seek this out over some of my very favorites (I bought Chemin D’Amande last year for example), but a great option.
