‘Traversing through the cobbled narrow souk road, and lost in a sea of colours, the scent of spices and coffee fills the night air. Surrounded by vendors selling roses and painted bowls, colourful clothes and handmade leather shoes. Here I found myself lost in the city’ – Memoirs Of A Perfume Collector
I think my expectations were way off with A Night In Marrakesh, so I had to adjust a bit. I expected a full-on gourmand (almond, coffee, honey, amber). There is some sweetness, but I mainly get a strong opening of patchouli and saffron. It’s a dry opening, with spices and it’s on the darker side.
Funny enough, I didn’t really pick up on cardamom, ginger, rose, bergamot at first, but all of a sudden it hit me; something in this composition reminds me of Frederic Malle Portrait Of A Lady. It’s more leathery though, and slightly more spicy, smoky and dark. Very pleasant surprise once I got used to it.
