I sprayed this one, without remember what style of fragrance it was or what the notes were and I was frankly taken aback for a second. Especially coming from (what I know to be) Nobile 1942. What a surprising, little bit daring opening this had.
Chocolate and cypriol instantly stood out to me, with a hint of cumin. Actually, a good pinch of cumin once I really took it all in. This is not for the faint of heart; slightly skanky, definitely earthy with that nutty, almost chewy texture in the woody/cypriol mix.
The chocolate unfortunately (as it all too often does) fades away within a couple of minutes on my skin. Leaving me with a pleasant, but less varying mix of bitter woods and spices. Still sweet, but more like a ‘chocolate-esque’ patchouli than actual edible.
Rose isn’t a pronounced floral here, but more of an airy facet on the side that helps to push back a tiny bit against the denser core of the fragrance.
The drydown I found less interesting; it all blends into a spicy woody scent with that earthy chewiness. Even less of the chocolate, florals or distinct facets remain and it’s not my favorite scent profile at this stage (sort of similar to the accord used in Amouage King Blue & Silver Oud) or the newer Memo Indian Leather.
Good fragrance overall, with an interesting opening hour.
