‘This fragrance pays tribute to the iconic raw materials of India. Sandalwood reveals its creamy, subtly soothing softness, blending with the deep, green nuances of tobacco. Enhanced by smoky and spicy notes, it gains contrast and mystery, delivering a sophisticated and captivating scent. A sensory journey to the heart of India.’ – Unika Parfums
As I mentioned in the Unika 2 – Vanille-Reglisse review, this brands tends to take seemingly generic sounding concepts and turn them into more mature takes than the average brand. That is also true for 6 – Santal Tabac.
Now in the case of 6 – Santal Tabac, this results in a very peppery, dry, spicy type of tobacco, rather than the usual sweet ones.
I don’t get the often milky, smoother sandalwood to the forefront either, but a pronounced earthiness. Tiny hints of bitter chocolate, but mostly spices and mild smokiness.
Pink pepper is the only spice listed in the notes, but it felt more black pepper, maybe even nutmeg-like at times. More for the rugged, raw fragrance lovers, than the (also promised) smooth, soft and creamy sandalwood. That’s in there, but in my opinion, overpowered by harsher tones.
Not my favorite from the Unika line, but an addition that seems very on-brand and worth looking into if you’re on the hunt for a non-generic tobacco (or sandalwood).
