I’d say Le Nomade is in a more conventional, realistic, suede-like leather style. Fans of fragrances like Tom Ford Ombre Leather should keep on reading, as I’d say this Levent is up there with the better, pure leather scents.
What sets this apart initially is the balsamic nature of it. Le Nomade almost feels botanical or vegetal to me when smelled up close. Starting off on the fresher side and I get the DNA from several other fragrances from the house, but the leather scent takes over quickly.
The leather as mentioned leans more suede-like to me, and as it dries and grows slightly sweeter, it reminds me of the more woody leather found in Matiere Premiere’s solid Falcon Leather. Le Nomade never goes as sweet, but it has tobacco, oud and sandalwood listed and you definitely get that cozy, smoother woody base. Which is to say; this is not a loud, sharp, in your face leather, making it much more enjoyable for me. I think the high 35% oil concentration helps with taking off the harsher edge.
That being said; it’s still a lot and as someone who only wears his leathers sparingly, Le Nomade works best as a one or two spray fragrance. The Levent’s are all unisex, but I’d say Le Nomade leans the furthest masculine from any that I’ve tried. I get a hint of a pretty heavy, aftershave or shaving cream throughout the wear in the background.
