‘As the scent of thyme, myrtle, and wild celery fills the air when you step off the plane… you know you’ve arrived in Figari, Corsica! This fragrance, infused with the powerful essence of immortelle, is both rich and complex. A fresh, sunlit breeze carries its citrusy, woody notes across the island. The lively zest of citron sparks a feeling of joy, followed by sensual, aromatic hints of wood, resin, and soft fruits… a truly delightful journey for the senses.’ – Unika Parfums
I tried the Unika line during Paris Perfume Week and based on the notes No. 5 seemed very interesting to me. On paper at the event, I only smelled citrus, so I couldn’t make much of it. So how is it?
On skin, the citrus is very dominant in the first hour too. Mandarin-like, juicy, zesty. Smelling quite natural. Grapefruit is the listed note, but it seems a tad sweeter and less tart/bitter than most.
Then follows a more airy, slightly green fruity vibe. I was at first reminded of orange blossom, but once I remembered that this fragrance contains fig, it’s quite clearly a fig core here to my nose.
Citrussy fig, with an almost candied citrus later on, with a solid texture and quality, makes for a rather nice fragrance and pleasant to wear. I was waiting for the namesake immortelle to come to the forefront, but I don’t get the immortelle here, in the way that I know it. It remains much more on the fresh and citrussy side overall throughout. It’s okay, but I wasn’t as impressed as I hoped I would be.
