‘Paris 1978 and another endless night in one of the world’s wildest nightclubs. Follow its powdery scent. Downstairs it’s a Negroni Yuzu for her and a whiskey Sage for me. Ribbons of tobacco smoke weave their magic. Leaning on the cedar wood bar, I watch her moving on the dance floor. Wafts of myrrh, vanilla and oriental rose go to my head. I close my eyes for a second. Les Bains Douches never sleeps.
      SENSUAL & ADDICTIVE
The party opens with the bright notes of yuzu, with floral accents that combine with the sweet and tangy candied bitter orange. It’s the perfect transition to dive into the heart of the celebration. The liqueur-like sweetness of davana evokes an Old Fashioned, while a blonde, vanilla, and gourmet tobacco adds roundness and voluptuousness to this substitute for a night at Les Bains Douches.’ – Les Bains Guerbois

1978 is a creation by the ever respected Bertrand Duchaufour and it’s a bit of a mind bender.

It sets off as a boozy gourmand, with citrus to give a fruity tinge. It reminds me initially of Frapin 1270 Extreme. Then 1978 transitions into a hint of aromatics and an overall, masculine leaning, cologne-style scent with davana, artemisia and sage. It definitely has a more traditional, old-school tinge. Almost boozy and sweet as well.

I enjoyed both the opening and the drydown equally. Very classy and a gem; the best from the brand.
