My favorite out of the 5 Buterbaugh fragrance that I’ve tried for sure, followed by Oud Orange Flower.

1947 Dahlia is a real hidden gem. Straight away you get this fruity, honeyed, floral and the pepper as well; pretty much as advertised. It reminds me a little bit of stewed pear dishes we have here in the Netherlands with the spices and the plum (another fragrance that does this is Veronique Gabai’s Sexy Garrigue).

1947 Dahlia is definitely floral at its core. I have no idea what Dahlia is supposed to smell like, but jasmine and tuberose I can imagine here. However, it’s not just a fresh floral, the sweetness is really surrounding it from start to finish. It’s a honey-vanilla vibe with the pepper through it, almost reminding me of cinnamon and super sweet wood shavings.

I’d say this is a floral scent in the most edible way possible. And I’d say this is a 10/10 fragrance. I tried buying it twice off Vinted, but both times I got my money back, because it apparently was sold already. For now I have decant, but one day I still want to have a bottle of it for sure.

Sidenote: The brand was headed by Fabrice Croice (from Scents Of Wood), before selling a majority share to an investor. Unfortunately, as of 2022, it seems that the brand is no longer active.
